One of the earliest memories that Barn Builders founder, Bruce Willemsen, has as a child is sitting in his kitchen sink when he was three-years-old and watching his family barn burn to the ground. That life-shaping experience left him with a deep appreciation of his agricultural heritage.

After working in the construction industry for a number of years, Bruce realized that he really wanted to do something that would honor his family heritage and at the same time contribute to preserving the history in his state. He decided that what he really wanted to do was to fix up old barns, build new barns, and raise cattle. Barn Builder’s has been the fruition of this dream. With a lot of hard work, Bruce has built a business that has an impeccable record of using only the best materials and doing whatever it takes to make sure the job is done correctly - the first time. Barn Builders has since developed a full team of skilled carpenters, but Bruce continues to maintain his hands-on attitude; “Never quit doing the work yourself, or you lose touch with what is going on.” Even though he prides himself in doing a lot of the work himself, he also takes pleasure in passing down the skills of hand-crafted construction to the younger generation. Bruce firmly believes it is one of his responsibilities to make sure that the younger generations know how to construct a building like they did years ago.
